Crystals make wonderful Feng Shui enhancements.  In this series of articles I look at some of the most popular crystals that are used in Feng Shui and give an insight in to how they can be used in your home. In this article I turn my attention to Carnelian a crystal that has incredibly strong energy and can be used in many areas of the home.
Carnelian is one of those crystals which has such strong energy that it can be used to enhance a number of different areas in your home. As a yang stone it can be used to strengthen the energy in any of the yang areas or to lift the energy in any neglected or dark spaces in the house. The yang areas of your home start in the north east and move to the  south and represent the knowledge, family, wealth and self esteem areas.
Probably the best known use of Carnelian is as a stone of abundance. For this reason many people place Carnelian at the entrance to the home. Placing a bowl of Carnelian crystals just inside your home next to the front door can give the impression that you are open to and encouraging success and abundance through your door. If your front door is situated in a yin area (starting in the south west and moving through to the north) then to ensure that Carnelian does not overpower the calming yin energy ensure that the crystals are placed in either a circular or freeflowing glass or metal bowl as this will help to balance the elements.  
As well as being known as a stone of abundance Carnelian can also help bring courage, success and willpower. If you are in need of support in any of these areas of your life then placing Carnelian in the self esteem area of your home can be very beneficial.  Carnelian crystals can be used as a small display in their own right as they are beautiful deep coloured stones, or they can be made part of a larger display. In the self esteem area of your home they can be made in to a very powerful display with red or orange candles. When using candles as a Feng Shui enhancement the power comes from when the candle is lit so always make sure that you are in the room when you light the candle and never leave it unattended.
